Athletes Put Maybelline’s Super Stay Lip To The Test

    • ● BRAND PARTNERSHIP, ART DIRECTION

We tested the lasting power of Maybelline’s Super Stay lip products throughout the day for both a skateboarder and an extreme high diver. By capturing them in their element — through social-first videos and action-packed photography — Bustle readers got to see their love for their sport in action and understand how Super Stay powers their expression.

    ● Art Direction

The photography art direction was beauty-forward, but had impactful moments of action throughout.

The photos were captured in separate environments specific to the athletes but, were weaved together in our article to tell a cohesive narrative.

Each athlete had, what we termed, a “hero composition” that captured the series of little movements leading up to their signature move.

    ● Typography

Given that we were shooting both photo and short-form video in a public skatepark, there was a brand-safe concern with the existing decorum. We addressed this by creating custom stickers and posters for walls, crevices, and the talent’s board!

All of the designed bits of type were done by me and subtly nodded to the Maybelline Super Stay Lip product and some playful (mostly fictional) skate thematics.
