- ● ART DIRECTION
We rooted the campaign on Elite Daily’s site and social because their readers are 3x more likely to be interested in both college basketball AND beauty. Leading the art direction for our custom shoot, I opted for a sleek set featuring court-and-chrome props that fostered the best environment to capture our two college basketball stars “rivaling” each other. ● Art Direction
The art direction overall was: energetic, cool girl, sporty. Throughout the entire article, the dynamic photo order and layout kept the article engaging, while a mix of beauty, lifestyle, and sporty shots left readers feeling fed!
Considering Elite Daily’s youthful audience, we played into dramatic sweeping gradient backdrops, compelling purple hues, and court-and-chrome props that felt specific to the Elite Daily reader.
While the start of the article seemingly pits the athletes against each other, the story dives deeper into their unique basketball experiences and ultimately how they both share a love for sporting bold beauty choices on the court.
● Beauty and Styling Direction
For outfit styling, we leaned into an editorial take of an athlete off-duty – nodding to classic basketball silhouettes and materials in fresh new forms. Given that we had a basketball hoop on set (!), styling had to be practical so they could still shoot hoops comfortably.
